History
The London College was formally established in 1975 in partnership with David Game Tutorial College, evolving from London Tutors, a privately run tuition centre founded in 1954 by an expatriate teaching couple. Initially based in Coventry and later expanding to Manchester and Letchworth, the institution provided specialised tuition for 11-plus, O-Level, A-Level, and foundation courses, supporting generations of learners across the UK.
In 1985, the College broadened its academic scope by launching higher education provision from its Fulham campus in partnership with City University California, delivering a range of American undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The College was incorporated in 1994, gaining academic charterships in the U.S. states of Iowa, Louisiana, and Alabama, and continued to offer Anglo-American programmes until 2012.
In 1998, the College was formally incorporated in the United Kingdom under its current name, The London College, UCK. Following the establishment of the UK Border Agency (UKBA) in 2008, the institution gradually phased out its American degree provision and transitioned fully to British higher education qualifications, including Pearson HNCs, HNDs, and Level 7 Postgraduate Masters Diplomas validated by Ascentis.
A significant milestone was achieved in 2011, when the College entered a franchise partnership with the University of Derby to deliver validated UK degree programmes. In 2017, the College relocated from its former NHG campus to its current site in Cranford, West London, where it continues its long-standing mission to widen access to quality British higher education.
