I am currently sub-contracting as a lorry driver, but I know this is not my long-term career path. My real passion lies in construction, a field that has inspired me from a young age. My father has worked in construction for over forty years, and watching his dedication sparked my own ambition to follow in his footsteps.

My goal is to become a Civil Engineer specialising in the construction of homes and infrastructure. Through my studies, I am learning the essential techniques and principles that underpin this field - from calculating the correct quantities of materials required for building walls to understanding the complex mathematics behind strong and stable structural foundations.

A friend recommended The London College to me, praising its flexibility and the quality of teaching. Even though I live in Felixstowe, I made the decision to travel all the way to London because I believe in the value of this course and the expertise of my lecturers.

The combination of on-campus learning on Saturdays and online classes on Wednesdays fits perfectly with my work schedule and allows me to balance my professional and academic responsibilities effectively.

The support from the College has been excellent, and I feel encouraged every step of the way. The lecturers make complex topics easier to understand and always take the time to ensure that students are confident with the material.

In the future, I plan to progress from my HND to a full undergraduate degree. My ultimate ambition is to work as a Civil Engineer, helping to design and build homes that make a real difference to people’s lives. Studying at The London College is helping me turn that ambition into reality. apply the theories and concepts I learn in the classroom directly to real-world situations. For example, I have studied AutoCAD, a design software used to produce detailed drawings such as site plans and elevations for construction projects, and I regularly use these skills in my day-to-day work. It is extremely rewarding to see how the knowledge I gain through my studies translates into practical value in the workplace.

Looking ahead, completing this HNC is an important step toward my long-term goals. After this, I plan to progress to the HND and eventually earn a full undergraduate degree - all at The London College. My ultimate ambition is to become a Project Manager, and I believe The London College provides the ideal environment and support to help me achieve that goal.
