Many major companies run graduate training schemes, advertised on sites like Prospects, Target Jobs, The Times Top 100, and company websites.
These are usually permanent roles with one to two years of structured development, including department rotations, training, exams, and mentoring.
They offer excellent learning and career prospects but can feel rigid and demanding, especially if you prefer flexibility or are still building confidence.

A recruitment agency helps connect people and businesses, matching the right talent with the right opportunities. They make the hiring process faster, easier, and more effective for employers while opening doors for job seekers to find roles that suit their skills and goals.
By offering expert advice, industry insight, and access to a wide network of opportunities, recruitment agencies save time, reduce stress, and improve outcomes for everyone involved. Whether supporting companies with workforce growth or helping individuals take the next step in their careers, recruitment agencies bring real value to both sides of the job market.

When to Start Job Hunting
It’s never too early to explore career options.
Autumn of your final year: Start applying for graduate schemes early - many close between December and February, with some deadlines as early as September. Begin research in your penultimate year to stay ahead.
Four months before finishing: Apply for direct-entry roles and any remaining graduate schemes on sites like Indeed or your college’s job board. Speak with a Careers Consultant for support.
After graduation: Don’t panic - being available immediately is a major advantage. Keep applying and exploring opportunities.
