I am currently studying for a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Construction and the Built Environment at The London College. Choosing this path has been a natural step for me, as I have always had a genuine passion for construction and the way the built environment shapes the world around us.
My decision to pursue this course was sparked during a conversation with a friend. While discussing my long-standing interest in construction, they encouraged me to explore studying the subject more formally. That conversation prompted me to reflect seriously on my ambitions. I realised that I didn’t just admire the industry from afar — I wanted to deepen my knowledge, gain professional qualifications, and actively build a career within it.
I began researching courses online, carefully comparing content, delivery methods, and progression opportunities. I also received recommendations from an educational agency, which further guided my decision-making process. After considering all my options, The London College stood out as the right choice for me.
One of the most significant advantages the college offers is flexibility. Unlike other institutions, it provides a structure that allows me to balance my studies alongside my professional and personal commitments. I commute from Peterborough to attend classes, which demonstrates the value I place on this opportunity.
Alongside my studies, I work as a Learning Support Worker at Peterborough College, and I also have important family responsibilities. The ability to fit my passion for construction around these commitments is something I am truly grateful for.
Upon completing my course, I aspire to become a Project Manager, working on major infrastructure and construction projects. I am particularly interested in areas such as railway developments and building regulatory compliance. My goal is to contribute to projects that have a lasting, positive impact on communities while ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulation.
